Layering question before my trip, Please give me some advices

Hey nail friends!

I’m getting ready to do a vacation set and want to try something a little more dimensional than my usual flat color. I don’t have builder gel or 3D sculpting gel, but I do have a rubber base and a hard base in my kit.

Normally, I stick to a simple structure: base → color → top coat.

But this time I’m wondering if I could build a little structure using hard base instead?

My idea was:

Rubber base → color → thin layer of hard base (for structure) → top coat.

Has anyone tried layering like this?

Would the hard base sit well over color, or is that a bad idea long-term?

I want the set to last through swimming, sun, and all the vacation chaos 😅

Would love to hear your experiences or tips before I go for it!

Thank you in advance!!💕

Typically, hard gel adheres better when applied over a thin layer of rubber base. However, if you’re using a soak-off builder gel, the rubber base isn’t necessary. In that case, you can simply apply rubber base (if needed), hard gel, color, and finish with top coat. Hope that helps.

I’d apply the color on top of the hard base. So the order would be: primer, rubber base, hard base, color, then top coat. If the hard base is actually a hard gel, adding a rubber base underneath might be a bit redundant. but that’s just my opinion. Either way, all of these products will work well together.

Exactly in that order! It’s not hard layering gel to strengthen the nail
